Going to Star Wars tonight

Life, Movies 2 Comments »

As part of my Father’s Day, my son Michael is taking me to see the new Star Wars movie tonight. I saw the last two that came out in last few years, but I still haven’t seen the original. I have no idea if I’ll like it, but it will be fun to spend the time with Mike.

I’ve been banging out feature articles all week for a series on Macworld next that will run all next week. Monique took the kids shopping today to give me time to try and get these things finished, which has been a nice. I hate trying to work with kids running around and the dog barking.

Of course, Father’s Day isn’t until tomorrow, but we want to go see my father and Monique’s as well, so there could be no movie or anything else.

By the looks of things, I’ll still have some work to do tomorrow night when we get home from the festivities, but I got a lot done today.

Zakk Wylde: “If it’s too hard, you’re not doing it rightâ€

And that is some advice I read in an interview with Zakk Wylde. Someone wrote in and asked how he played a certain song (I can’t remember which one) – the guy said he had been trying to learn it, but it was just too hard. Zakk’s response …

“If it’s too hard, you’re not doing it right.â€

In a lot of respects, that’s exactly right. Although Zakk often plays down his abilities on the guitar, he is the best out there right now and not just for the speed. He has an incredible ability to double up on notes and chords, making them sound fresh.

He’s a genius, no doubt about it.
