Nicole got her braces today

As if Michael’s teeth problems weren’t enough this past week, Nicole went in today to get braces on her teeth. She was actually looking forward to having braces — Monique and I both had them and neither of us looked forward to having them.

The braces were planned for quite a while now, but it just adds to the drama as we prepare to take Michael in for the first of his five root canals on Thursday. I think they’ll take a week or so to complete them.

Nicole didn’t think the braces would hurt, but after only an hour or so she said the bottom teeth are starting to hurt. From experience I told her they will hurt a lot more in the next few days.

      Braces are now considered cool. Finally! Something GOOD for kids that they don’t hate!!!

      I actually looked forward to my braces (but then again, I only wore them for a year or so). As I remember it, the worst part was the spacers used to prep my back teeth.

      Yeah, those spacers were terrible. I don’t have a good memory about braces at all. I think pain, that’s it.

      Never had braces. I hope she can tolerate the pain for the little while that it lasts. Those straight pearly whites will be her reward.

      She doesn’t have much choice now :-)

      She was at her friends for a while tonight and she seemed fine when she got home. Maybe the coolness will win out over the pain.

      Sigh… Braces… I’ve had an orthodontic treatment myself since I was about 10 years old, and went through everything related: Retainters, lip bumper, spacers, HEAD GEAR, and yes, good ol’ braces for over 3 years!! It was PAINFUL everytime– for about one week or so, everytime they got tightened… At least, I can boast straight, perfect teeth now!

      What a lucky gal. Lucky her parents can afford to take care of her teeth in such a manner. The end result will be well worth the pain. Take a bit of Ibuprofen and hour before each return visit, and a couple hours again after for the next day or so. She’s young, she’ll do just fine.

      Beautiful teeth for a beatiful little lady.

      I never had to deal with the head gear — that must have been painful!

      i just went to the ortho two days ago and.. the ortho said i need braces..
      ( =[ ) sad i know… (jk) well anyways i hope u do great!
      also i have heard that spacers are the worst part. is it true
