Michael is such a good kid. He really deserves some good news, but this summer seems to be a non-stop run of bad news for the poor kid. The latest came today when he had another appointment at the dentist.
When Michael went to the dentist for a follow-up after the accident, he had feeling in his teeth, so he canceled the planned root canals. He told us to come back in two months and we would see how things were going.
After receiving the report from the ER doctor, they decided to do another check-up. Sadly, Michael had some discoloration in two of his teeth. While he could feel cold in a couple of the teeth, he lost all sensation in the others.
That means he will have to go for several root canals. The doctor said he isn’t giving up yet, but with discoloration it’s pretty much over.

Wow, sorry to hear it Jim. Sure hope the process isn’t too hard on him.
Good luck with doing what the doctor can!

sorry to hear that jim… if it is any consolation, i had a root canal earlier this year and it was not as bad as i thought it would be… i’m not saying it was peaches and cream, but compared to the horror stories i’ve heard over the years i was quite releaved the experience was not like the stories.

Poor Michael… If it has to be done, it has to be done. It may be painful now, but hopefully, Michael will only come out stronger from this whole ordeal.

I know he’ll be okay in the end. It’s not like he has to go through brain surgery with tragic consequences waiting on the other end, but damn he just deserves a break.

While this latest news is not the best, I like to think Michael already got a break - he was wearing his helmet and wasn’t run over. Cuts, scrapes and bruises will heal. Teeth can now be repaired quite well. Head injuries and death are much tougher.
Chin up, Michael. From here on out, things will only improve with time.

Geez, like Jim said, it is not brain surgery.
