I love the new NHL rules

Hockey, Sports Add comments

It’s about time the National Hockey League got wise and changed the rules of hockey. The old rules rewarded no-talent schmucks that only know how to hook and grab instead of playing the game.

Despite what some people think putting your stick around another guys waste and pulling him back is not what the game is about. Hitting a player that doesn’t have is interference, not part of the game.

Players that can’t keep up with these new rules should never have been in the NHL in the first place. These rules are going to allow the talented players like Sydney Crosby, Joe Thorton and others to do what they do best: play hockey.

On the Rangers, Bruins game tonight they showed highlights of previous games where players standing in front of the net were getting clobbered. I don’t know how they managed to stay in the game — they were being hacked, crosschecked from behind and punched in the head.

In tonight’s game there were penalties called all the time and good for them. If the game is going to be rebuilt, we need to support the officials and league.

I might watch more games now. It would be more like watching the playoffs when they actually played hockey.

It was actually more like watching an all-star game. The pace is fast, the players can’t hook and grab — it was really, really nice!

It will be awhile before we have Hockey Night In Missouri. Gigi and I used to go to a lot of hockey games when I was in the Marine Corps. We could get tickets for $2 and had a blast. We even have some minor league and college games being played in the new Ice Park arena. I even have a small hockey puck collection.

I enjoy watching the Bruins on TV. We don’t have any NHL teams here or even near here, so TV is the only way for me to see any games.

I’m with you there dMac. It was pretty exciting to watch the game the other night.

Wednesday night, I’ll be glued to the TV to watch the Bruins season opener against Montreal.

My only dislike with the “new NHL” is the shootout after the period of overtime.

    1) there’s nothing wrong with ending the game with a tie, 1 point for both teams.

    2) It now means if a team loses in a shootout, the goalie gets the blame, most likely undeserved blame.

I love the new rules except the shootout.

  8. Jim Dalrymple Says:

Yeah, the goalies will get a lot of blame this year. With the amount of power plays their averages are going way up

i THINK THAT HITTING THE CRAP OUT OF PEOPLE IS WHAT MAKES THE GAME PUTTING A STICK AROUND A PERSON AND PULLING THEM BACK IS WHAT MAKES THE GAME SINCE I PLAY THE GAME IT MAKE SENSE TO ME BUT WHEN GAY FAGS LIKE YOU WRITE THIS STUFF IT MAKES ME SICK BECAUSE YOUR TO PUSSY TO PLAY IT YOUR SELF.

  10. Jim Dalrymple Says:

Hockey master, that was really funny.

I’ve played hockey for a lot of years and at 6′1″ 225lbs, I can assure you I don’t back away from confrontations on or off the ice.

However, I like to see the people that can skate and play the game to be able to do so without some goon like you hanging off them because they just can’t keep up.

To keep this short but to the point. Unless your a hockey player/coach/fan you will not understand. So I give to you the ONLY RULES that made sense and made the game better. Other than that old rules should have stayed the same.
    1. The 2 line pass - GOOD MOVE
    2. Smaller goail pads back to normal - GOOD MOVE.

    Everything else VERY BAD!!!
In order to have the GREATEST GAME around you educate the people you do not change the game for the people and not try to make it so much like other sports. They did this for betting reasons and it should never look like baseball baskeball football shit!! Keep the old naming conventions. Cambells/Smith/Norris ect… Also what about this money crap…. Way too much that ruined this sport. Ask Gordie Howe and Gretzy!!!!!!!

you my friend, obviously know nothing about true hockey, ive played hockey all my life and the checking and roughness is part of the game, it’s the players that can overcome the crosschecks, slashes, grapping, tripping and punching and still score are the true hockey heros, ive seen it done! go look at a game from 20 years ago and tell me its not rougher and tell me its not more exciting. this is hockey! not figure skating you pussy
