Finally the Bruins fire Mike O’Connell

Hockey, Sports No Comments »

The Boston Bruins Harry Sinden finally pulled the trigger and dropped Mike O’Connell from his duties as General Manager. Unfortunately, Sinden didn’t do the deed before O’Connell made a couple of really bad moves that will hurt the club for years to come.

O’Connell should have been fired when Sinden first heard of O’Connell’s plan to trade Joe Thorton. I don’t dispute the contribution Sturm, Primeau and Stuart have made to the team, but come on, we’re talking about Joe Thorton here.

Thorton was the future of the team and as of today is listed second in total points for the NHL this year. There isn’t a Bruin anywhere in the top 30.

The Bruins have a sad history of doing stupid things like this. They had the makings of a dynasty a few years back and if they were smart, they would have held on to people like Knuble, Rolston and Billy Guerin.

Instead, Bruins fans find themselves once again at the bottom of the pack with several years of rebuilding ahead of us. And that’s if the new GM doesn’t screw things up like O’Connell did.

Zakk Wylde signed his band Black Label Society to a new record deal with Roadrunner Records to do the follow-up to their hit album “Mafia.” Zakk is currently working on the album, which will be called “Shot to Hell.”

The best guitarist in the world is busy these days. In addition to working on his new album, Zakk has been named as the headliner on the second stage of Ozzfest 2006 and he is writing and recording with Ozzy for his new album. Ozzy has said in recent interviews that he will release a new studio album in 2006.

According to Roadrunner, “Shot to Hell” will be released this summer, although no specific date was released. Zakk is working with producer Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers) on the new album.

The band’s last album Mafia debuted in March 2005 at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and at #1 on the Top Independent Albums chart.

Ozzy on your GPS navigation system

Anyone that has a navigation system in their car knows how annoying the voice can be when giving directions. They sound so calm and relaxed—who the hell is that clam and relaxed when driving. Well, people living in Europe have a solution—you can download Ozzy’s voice to give you directions.

“In 400 meters you have reached your fucking destination,” says Ozzy’s imitation voice. If a car loses its signal he shouts: “I’ve lost the fucking satellite!”

Ozzy’s X-rated rants are selling double the combined total of all the other stars used for voice-overs which can be downloaded on to satnavs, according to the company responsible for the voices.

If Ozzy is not your cup of tea, you can listen to Sharon give directions: “Turn around, asshole.”

Now all we need is Zakk Wylde’s voice saying “Suck my Ass” no matter what you do in the car.

Skateboarding dog

Okay, I’ve seen people on America’s Home Videos and other shows put their dogs on skateboards and push them to get a laugh, but this is different.

This dog not only pushes himself along, he actually steers the skateboard and when he is about to crash he jumps off. This is one smart dog—looks like he’s having a good time too.

Keeping our fingers crossed for Michael

Family 4 Comments »

You may remember back in June Michael had a bad accident on his bike that knocked out or broke nine of his teeth. For a few weeks it was good news/bad news about whether he would keep his teeth or not. Now we are starting to worry a little again.

When I was in San Francisco last week Monique called and said two of the teeth were showing discoloration. If this means the teeth died, Michael will need to start on his root canals.

We don’t know for sure, but he has an appointment with the dentist on Thursday. We’re hoping it’s just some minor thing that can be dealt with easily without putting him through any more pain.
