Monique and I went to see the matinee of Angels & Demos today and it was great. Well, great if you like those types of movies, which I do. Read More→

Every once in a while a movie comes along that just makes you laugh at everything. I found have the next movie that's going to do that for me — Nacho Libre.

This movie looks hilarious. And to make hilarious into just downright crazy, the star of the movie is Jack Black. You have to take a look at the trailer — in one of the scenes Jack is dressed in tights and this kid is just staring at him and he says basically, “Sometimes I like to wear stretchy pants.” I’ve been walking around all day saying that — in restaurants, getting gas, in front of Nicole’s friends; basically whereever I can.

Jack has another great hit on his hands with this one. His last couple of movies were pretty good — at least Jack was good.

We are going to take Michael and some of his friends to this movie for his birthday in a couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to it.

Scooby-Doo and Michael too

Posted by: Jim Dalrymple | Comments (0)

Michael, Monique and Nicole sat down tonight and watched Scooby-Doo 2 Monsters Unleashed. I was going to watch too, but I had some work to do, so I got that done instead.

Sometimes listening to Michael watch a movie is better than watching the movie itself. He’s one of these genuine laughers that belly laughs — when he gets going it’s contagious.

All through the movie Michael was laughing so hard, it brought a smile to my face.

Sometimes it’s the small things in life that make me happy. Well that and lots of money would make me really happy.

Well, we’re back from Star Wars and it was a blast. The movie was okay – predictable, but they all are. I prefer a good suspense movie than the Star Wars films any day. I think Seven is one of my all-time favorites – scared the hell out of me when I saw it.

Going to the movie with Michael was a lot of fun. We shared popcorn and I watched him as he would whisper the name of the spacecraft as they passed by the screen. He was trying to explain the whole Skywalker, Darth Vader thing to his mother today, but she didn’t get it.

Speaking of his mother. Monique and Nicole went to see some chick-flick about pants going all over the world or something like that. They laughed, they cried, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. You know the type I’m talking about.

The biggest, kick is that they snuck into Star Wars and watched the end! Their movie ended 30 minutes before ours, so they came to watch ours – they weren’t very impressed, but that’s okay we weren’t impressed with theirs either.

Going to Star Wars tonight

Posted by: Jim Dalrymple | Comments (2)

As part of my Father’s Day, my son Michael is taking me to see the new Star Wars movie tonight. I saw the last two that came out in last few years, but I still haven’t seen the original. I have no idea if I’ll like it, but it will be fun to spend the time with Mike.

I’ve been banging out feature articles all week for a series on Macworld next that will run all next week. Monique took the kids shopping today to give me time to try and get these things finished, which has been a nice. I hate trying to work with kids running around and the dog barking.

Of course, Father’s Day isn’t until tomorrow, but we want to go see my father and Monique’s as well, so there could be no movie or anything else.

By the looks of things, I’ll still have some work to do tomorrow night when we get home from the festivities, but I got a lot done today.

What else could explain Michael Eisner’s stupid comments about Pixar’s movie creations? Responding to a question about Disney’s digital efforts, Eisner called Pixar’s creations as “pretty pathetic.” Pixar and Apple CEO Steve Jobs shot back.
